All of the fanfiction recommendations have been moved here from the old site but there are still a few threads that I'm going to have to leave behind unless you guys want to wade back through them again since they're located in the ff discussion. I know for sure I'm moving the Latin stuff, the spells list, and the archives list. Also, I'm planning on making some smilies for the forum.

The only problem I have now with this site is the search function. It
only checks the topic titles and not the text within the posts. So if
you're searching for story titles, you won't get any results unless you
type in character names. But the pros is you can change the formatting
on posts to rich text I guess you could call it by clicking on 'Switch
Editor Mode'. When you do that, the box won't go back up to the top
allow you to keep editing the post without the hassles on the previous
forum. Also all links are highlighted in the rec section, so you can
spot them out unlike the other forum. Also I can adjust templates on
here though I can only have one style template. I was thinking of going
back but considering the pros, I'm staying here. 3 pros against 2 cons.

I just finished adding the last few posts of the Latin Terms. All of them will be locked. Considering it is a collection of HP knowledge, original ideas, etc. all threads in that area maybe locked depending on the nature of the thread. Those like the original spells, original creatures, archives list etc that constantly need to be updated will remain locked. If you need to have them opened for a time, contact that mods regulating that category.

*rubs hands together* I just figured out how to animate and save emoticons. Right now, I'm working on an emoticon of a phoenix. The only problem was that when I was coloring, some bits came out more transparent on the edges so on a black forum, you'll see an outline of that. Once I clean it up, I'll add it to our list of smilies.

If you post anything, you'll notice the animated smilies are no longer on the sidebar. You'll have to click more emoticons for the animated ones as they were taking up too much space on the side bar. I also deleted some emoticons that I thought won't be used much. I might even replace the royal ones with HP centered ones.

Once I have enough HP emoticons, they'll take the second group page while common smilies will take the first. The Hungarian Horntail doesn't look that bad as I worked that one completely on my own. Hmm, I think I'm missing quite a few horns on there.

I'll try to take a request on emoticons if I can. Forum Updates 298436

I've opened a new subsection under the Rec Section. It's titled "PWP Fics/Challenges". Stories that are Plot-Without-Plot, focus on sexual and adult themes, etc etc, can be placed here. Due to the nature of the section, I have severely limited the membership access to the section.

If you are a legal adult, you WILL have to register on the forum and then send a PM to me to request addition to the group that has been given complete access to the section, "Vulgo Voluptas" which means 'To make accessible pleasure'.

Otherwise, you WILL NOT be allowed to view that section. If you are under the age of 18, you will not be given access regardless of your status as a author/reader.

Members on this site will now be required to provide birthdays on their profile. You can choose to keep it hidden or public but I must be able to see it in the admin panel.

Added the first post to the PWP section. I've checked it and I think the new features are working. I logged off and the PWP section disappeared. Again, if you wish to access that section, you will have to register on the forum then send me a pm and I will add you to the group as soon as possible.

For those already registered. I've changed the template for the posting recs. Please use the new template as I will be going through the old ones and changing them so the Author Names can be more noticeable. Thanks for your patience.

Hm, a few minutes after adding the post in the in PWP, the forum started acting weird in that the pages were redirected back to the main page of the forum. I'm going to have to see if it was because of the content of the page or if it was a glitch. Seems quite a coincidence if the forum went back to normal use after I deleted the PWP section.

After the issue with the PWP section, I talked with a representative from the hosting service and they said that even with the control system in place, posting of links to sites that contain adult material is not allowed. Any forum found to be in violation of the TOS could be deleted without warning.

Because of this, stories rated NC-17 and above are not allowed. M-rated and R-rated stories are still allowed but the content must be milder.

I'll be going through the forums and will begin deleting posts that violate the new rules.

I'll see if I can post the recs on my LJ so at least there will be record of the recs.

What is the defining line between M, R, and NC-17? I usually post the rating based on whatever the author listed for their story, but that doesn't mean the fic is necessarily one of those categories. Especially since fanfiction.net has limited choices and I think M is the highest.

And what is your LJ if you decide to post those recs there? I don't really know how LJ works but I'm sure I'll figure it out. Smile

For me, I've used the Motion Picture Association of America. Here's the breakdown:

K -> Content suitable for ages 5 and up: free of any coarse language, violence, and adult themes.
K+ -> Content
suitable for ages 9 and up: minor action violence without serious
injury, may contain coarse language but no adult themes.

T -> Contains content suitable ages 13 and up: some violence, mild coarse language, and minor suggestive adult themes.
M -> Contains
content suitable for ages 16 and up: possible strong but non-explicit
adult themes, references to violence, and strong coarse language.

MA/R -> Contains
content suitable for ages 18 and up: may contain non-explicit/explicit
adult themes, graphic violence, and strong coarse language.

NC-17 -> Contains explicit content suitable for ages 21 and up; contains explicit language, extreme violence and graphic adult themes.

Anything posted from fanfiction.net should be safe but as you know, there are NC-17 fanfiction that makes it past the filter on the site. There was an issue back with one of the Power Ranger stories that was heavily NC-17 and contained so much kinks that clashed with moral ethics of all people it forced FF.net to remove their NC-17 section and create the AFF.net.

Livejournal focuses on html. They have tags where you can associate certain journal entries with others and you have about 15 links that you can use to directly link people to other sites. Livejournal has the least amount of restrictions on there; you just have to make sure you give the proper warnings and use the minor filters they have on the site such as lj-cut, where you can hide behind a major part of your entry.

Here's my journal.

An example of a rec site on livejournal would be Orange Crush.

Doing so could enable anon. reviewers to add their recs without signing up. If you wish, I could create a community for the rec site and none of you would have to register on lj. You could just add it and then that would be it.

Would do you guys think? Should i create a community and just have you post there?

I'm willing to register. It would probably be better to have people register just so that there is some checkpoint or whatever for the age of the people visiting and clicking on those NC-17 links. That said, I don't want to create more work for you especially if it will keep you from your writing. Voldemort Aww I love the smilies. Severus Snape

The "Orange Crush" site looks well laid out as far as organization goes. I have visited LJ before when trying to read someone's story, but the chapters were all in different months and they didn't seem to have a guide anywhere. It was kind of frustrating.

If you need or want any help just let me know and tell me what to do . lol

Hmm, I guess we can have the M-rated stories and below posted here. People could email me the NC-17 recs using the templates and I will just add them to the community on my profile that could be the extension based on the tags.

The organization of the LJ made me have the master list with all chapters on there. When you click on a multichapter fic on my journal, the link to the previous chapter is located at the top and the next chapter link is located at the bottom.

Here's the post that will function as the main place where links to the posts containing the recs for each pairing can be located.

I placed two new recs on the OTHER Section, one for Harry Potter/ Ginny Weasley and the second for Harry Potter/Bellatrix Lestrange. You can post recs anon. There is a new template on there that's at the bottom of the master pairing list. Hope to see new additions there. If you need a thread, just pm me or post a comment on the master pairing list, and I will add the new section.

Just to alert you what's going on, Smutty Claus on LJ has begun posting the present fics and art drawings. It started December 1st of this year. Pairings range widely from canon ships to some really outrageous ones.

Also for Outcast Section of HP, I'm planning to add a couple more fics to the Harry/Ginny thread.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I've added a section titled "Fanfiction Reports". This is the area where you can post messages regarding what's happening around the fanfiction report. Such as a fanfic contest that someone's holding, drawing contests, etc etc. If it's an annual event, then title it after the name of the event and just keep adding posts to it so there won't be multiple threads of the same event. Thanks.
